Rock The Native Vote hosts two-day Tribal Days of Action for Early Voting community gatherings in Canadian, Oklahoma and Tulsa counties, Oct. 29–30, to caravan to the polls.
[CANADIAN, OKLAHOMA, TULSA COUNTIES], Okla. — Rock the Native Vote is hosting Tribal Days of Action for Early Voting, inviting Native communities and all Oklahoma voters to gather, learn what’s on their ballots, then caravan to the polls together ahead of the Nov. 3 general elections. Early voting in Oklahoma runs from Wednesday, Oct. 28, through Saturday, Oct. 31.
“Oklahoma had the second-lowest voter turnout rate in the country in the last presidential election. Only 22% of registered Oklahoma voters cast a ballot in the August primary.” said Ginny Underwood, executive director of Rock The Native Vote. “This election is too important to miss the opportunity to make your voice heard.”
“Early voting gives Oklahomans an opportunity to vote at a designated early voting location in their county instead of their assigned precinct,” Underwood said. “It’s a perfect time to gather friends and family in your county and do more than remind them to vote—bring them with you.”
Rock The Native Vote is also sharing a toolkit to help Tribes, Native organizations, faith communities and other partners organize their own voting events. The toolkit helps organizations plan a gathering that works for their communities.
