Eight women singer-songwriters will share the songs that inspired them, the stories behind their own music and the connection between the two

TULSA, Okla. What song first sparked the desire to write something of your own? Eight women singer-songwriters will answer that question when The Songbird Sessions debuts Friday, October 9, at Studio 308.

“Every songwriter has a song or an artist who opened a door for her,” said Liz Zotta, director and producer of The Songbird Sessions. “This evening gives each of us a chance to honor that influence, share the story behind our own work and show where that inspiration led us as songwriters.”

Throughout the evening, the performers will share a song by a well-known female artist who helped shape her creative journey, along with an original song of her own and the story behind it. The pairings give audiences a glimpse of the music that inspired each songwriter and the music she creates today.

The evening will feature Megan Marlene, Liz Zotta, Damaris Kunkler, Casii Stephan, Wanda Watson, Ari Yvon, Ashley Smith and Bria Edwards. A five-piece band led by Conor Culpepper will accompany the songwriters.

Guests will enjoy cabaret-style seating, and a full bar will be available. Individual tickets are $20, with reserved tables also available.
