
IEDC recognizes Chief Batton for exemplary leadership and impactful contributions to economic development
DURANT, Okla. – The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is pleased to announce that Chief Gary Batton, Chief of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Public Sector Champion Award in recognition of his exceptional leadership and dedication to economic development. Chief Batton has been a driving force behind initiatives that foster business expansion, attract investment, and create opportunities for long-term prosperity and quality of life. IEDC formally celebrated Chief Batton at the 2025 Leadership Summit which took place in Washington, DC. This premier gathering provided economic development professionals a space to explore innovative strategies and strengthen the leadership skills needed in a rapidly changing landscape.
