Gallery features Jaime Misenheimer’s “Ilvppako Amiti: From These Places”
DURANT, Okla. - The art gallery inside Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant's Sky Tower is currently displaying a solo exhibition – a collection of paintings by Choctaw artist Jaime Misenheimer.
The collection, titled “Ilvppako Amiti: From These Places,” features 16 paintings by Misenheimer, who is based in McAlester. Misenheimer’s work is based on the idea that land is not just a setting, but a presence to which she’s deeply connected. This belief comes to life in her paintings, which depict nature, her Choctaw roots, and the world around her.
Misenheimer takes inspiration from her childhood, years riding horses and performing as a trick rider, and her travels to Italy, Greece and Colombia, making her art a vivid representation of moments and memories she holds deal.
“We’re honored to display works from Jaime Misenheimer as a compelling solo exhibition at Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant,” said Claire Young, public arts manager for the Choctaw Nation. “Jaime has a strong sense of rhythm, balance and motion, which brings dynamic energy to her paintings, especially those of animals like horses and deer.”
The exhibition will be on display through October, and all paintings are available for purchase.
