The McSwain Theatre 130 W. Main St., Ada, Oklahoma.

ADA, Okla.— A legendary Western swing band will entertain the crowd with its quintessential brand of toe-tapping music at the McSwain Theatre 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7.

Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys, led by two-time Grammy winner Jason Roberts, continues to deliver the same brassy, melodic sounds that made the band famous in 1933.

“We are so excited to host the iconic Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys at the McSwain Theatre,” McSwain Theatre Manager Jae L. Stilwell said. “This will truly be a wonderful night of Western swing music.”

Guests can expect renditions of the band’s classic hits, including “Faded Love,” “Take Me Back To Tulsa” and “San Antonio Rose.”

Like the original band, this group of Playboys features some of the best swing musicians from Oklahoma and Texas, including trombonist Steve Ham, trumpeter Mike Bennett, drummer Tony Ramsey and fiddler Shawn Howe, who are all from Oklahoma. Piano player Wayne Glasson, steel-guitarist Dave Biller, bassist Albert Quaid and saxophone player Larry Reed call Texas home.

Many of these top-notch players were in the Bob Wills’ Texas Playboy band during its earlier incarnations.
